Background
Part of HOPE worldwide's Hong Kong Education Programme, the HOPE worldwide Centre for Kids serve new arrivals and children from low income families in the Shum Shui Po area. The centre also provides volunteering opportunities for interested individuals, corporate citizens, and organizations.
HOPE worldwide Centre for Kids was first established in 1996 and served children in the Yau Tsim Mong Districts for several years. In 2000, we were able to build a centre in Shek Kip Mei with a generous grant from Citigroup.
Mission
The centre helps disadvantaged children realize their potential through educational assistance, computer training, and volunteering activities, preparing them to become contributing members of society.
Educational Assistance
The centre provides English phonic classes, homework tutorial, character building programmes, and study skill training after school. Staff keeps close communication with members' parents in order to help the children develop their learning interest as well as strong character.
Information Technology Training
Centre members have access to free cyber classroom, keeping them "plugged in" to the latest technology.
Multi-media interest groups expose the children to untraditional, outside-of-classroom type of learning.

Many of the changes in our society have brought serious challenges to our youth today, in areas of academic learning, character development, and community awareness.
We recognise that it takes the commitmment of the different sectors - business, non-profit, educational and social - to create innovative programmes that help our youth positively deal with the changes. We believe that only by working hand in hand do we create a stronger generation for tomorrow.
The purpose of the CitiSuccess Fund is to give away easy-to-obtain cash grants to social service providers and teachers as an incentive for them to initiate innovative, nontraditional programmes for secondary school students facing adjustment challenges.
